StudentseRecruiting Quick Reference Guide eRecruiting manages a number of services for the Career Development Center, including: On Campus Recruiting Program The On Campus Recruiting Program allows only current matriculated Binghamton University students to apply for positions with organizations visiting campus throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Organizations schedule visits to interview for full-time, co-op, and summer internship opportunities. Students apply to these organizations and positions, are notified of interview selections, and schedule interview times all through eRecruiting. Interviews are held in CDC. Many employers will also host information sessions throughout the semesters. Students find out about these sessions through the eRecruiting calendar and may RSVP to attend a session. Job & Internship Posting Service The Job & Internship Posting Service is available to students and alumni. Employers seeking candidates for professional jobs or internships post positions on eRecruiting, but do not interview on campus. Qualified students and alumni may apply as instructed. Employers will contact candidates of interest directly. Resume Books The Resume Books are a way for students and alumni to make their resumes available to interested employers. Students may publish a resume to the Public Resume Book, any appropriate specialty Resume Book, and the Experience Network Resume Book. Employers conduct searches in the Resume Books and contact candidates of interest directly. You may publish or un-publish a resume to the Resume Books at any time.Experience Network The Experience Network is a national network of employers that is more extensive than those participating in CDC's On Campus Recruiting Program and/or Job & Internship Posting Service. It allows students and alumni to expand their job search by viewing and applying to jobs and internships employers post to the Network, as well as opportunities posted from Careerbuilder.com, Hotjobs.com, and Dice.com. Also, students and alumni may post a resume in the Experience Network Resume Book for employers to review. Career Research The Career Resources tab on the main navigation bar contains industry profiles, city profiles, and career profiles provided by WetFeet. Also included are Yahoo! searches to expand and enhance your research, as well as the latest industry news provided by PRNewswire. Having these resources available directly through eRecruiting allows you to perform up-to-date research while conducting your job or internship search.On-Campus Recruiting Policies
Apply End Dates
Apply End Dates are listed in the specific job or internship in eRecruiting. Resumes must be submitted through eRecruiting by 11:59pm on that date. If a student misses a deadline and wishes to be considered by that organization, the student may send his/her resume with a cover letter directly to the organization.
Canceling an Interview Once you have scheduled an interview, you can change or cancel it through eRecruiting up to two days prior to the visit date. After that date, the system will not allow you to make any changes. If you must cancel an interview less than 48 hours in advance, you must speak with a CDC staff member in Employer Services at 777-2553 (voice mail is available). Missing a scheduled interview or Canceling on Short Notice If you fail to show up for a scheduled first or second interview, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice you will lose On Campus Recruiting privileges immediately. To discuss reactivating privileges, you must speak with April St. John or Eileen Bauer-Hagerbaumer in CDC Employer Services. Missing an interview reflects negatively on you and on Binghamton candidates in general. It seriously jeopardizes future relations with the organization.Accepting a Job Offer Don't accept a job offer if you want to keep interviewing! When you accept a job offer, you are agreeing to work for that specific organization. It reflects negatively upon you and us if you accept an offer and renege on your commitment. If you receive a job offer and are not ready to accept it, you may wish to speak with a CDC Career Counselor about how to handle the situation. After accepting an offer please notify Employer Services by calling x72553 or emailing recruit@binghamton.edu. Employer Behavior If you have concerns about the ethical practice of employers during your job search, please bring them to the attention of April St. John, Eileen Bauer-Hagerbaumer, or a CDC Counselor.Accuracy of Information All information you submit to CDC or directly to an employer must be accurate. Not only are there issues of integrity to consider, but also many employers verify the accuracy of information submitted by candidates for employment. Discrepancies between information on resumes and transcripts have resulted in pending job offers being withdrawn. Some employers will terminate an employee already on the payroll if discrepancies are discovered after employment. Binghamton University's "Rules of Student Conduct" which is made available to each student includes the following section on False and Misleading Information: "Lying to the University, including lying in any judicial proceedings or otherwise misrepresenting oneself with regard to the University, is prohibited." Please be advised that submitting inaccurate information to the Career Development Center for the On Campus Recruiting Program may be a violation of this section of "Rules of Student Conduct." Therefore, it is incumbent upon you to present accurate information on your resume and other documents presented as part of your job search to the Career Development Center or directly to an employer. CDC Communication with Employers The communication between employers and the Career Development Center is very good. Information returns to the campus regarding the actions and success of our students. Employers often provide feedback relating to the process of second interviews and how Binghamton students fared. In addition, this communication means that employers feel free to call us regarding the ethics of student conduct in the job search process. The students who preceded you worked hard to convince employers that Binghamton students are good candidates. The opportunities available to you result not only from your hard work, but from theirs as well. Protect the value of your degree and remember we're available to assist you this year and in the future.Employer Data FormsEmployer Data Forms are no longer located on the Career Development Centers web page.
