CareerSearchWhat is it? CareerSearch is an online searchable database of organizational information including descriptions, addresses, names, titles and many email addresses. This information may help you research employers in preparation for interviews as well as help in identifying potential employers in your chosen industry. Many organizations post openings on their own web sites, but unless you know about the organizations, you're unlikely to find their sites. Whether your job search is focused on a specific geographic location or you are interested in one particular industry, CareerSearch can help you identify organizations you might not otherwise know exist. Some tips to using CareerSearch effectively: CareerSearch is not a listing of jobs. It is simply a listing of organizations. Once you find organizations of interest you may contact them directly to inquire as to whether or not they have openings. You need to prepare to present yourself effectively. CareerSearch is organized by industry, not by the types of jobs people hold in the organization. So for example, if you are looking for a public relations position you are not limited to working solely for public relations firms. Perhaps you might work in an educational institution, a bank, or a non-profit. To find these types of organizations you'll need to search in their specific industry rather than by 'public relations.' Get the idea? You need to think about the types of organizations in which you might find the type of position you want. You must be a current Binghamton University student in order to have access to the database. When you click on the CareerSearch site you will be required to enter your pods account information. It will look something like this:
